Q and A time

Bring them on. I really enjoy answering peoples questions. If you got one, ask. By the way, Flu season sucks.

Q: A call where I just wanted to say, Why did you call us?
A: It was probably the 20 year old who called 911 because he chipped his tooth when he decided to eat a frozen french fry because he was hungry. We told him that it would be a waste of time to go to the ER but he insisted, so he got in the back of the bus and we took him to UMC. When we arrived, we went to triage, explained what had happend, the nurse told him he needed to go to the dentist and to not waste their or our time again for something to stupid.

Q: A call where it was something stupid, but they really did need to go to the hospital.
A: This wasn't stupid on the patients part, it was on the familys part. We ran a call for a 80+ yo woman who was near resp. arrest. We were in Clinton, so the logical place to take her would be Central Miss which is right off highway 18. I had to argue with the family because they wanted her to go to Baptist because thats where her records were. I politely pointed out, that her records could be faxed over to CMMC with no problem. That wasnt the right answer. They were still screaming and asked for my supervisors phone number. I gave it to them and said we had to leave for the hospital and WE WERE going to CMMC. They started screaming we would be charged with kidnapping (which is a legit charge in this business) if we took her there. Finally, I said bluntly "Fine, I will take her to Baptist against our professional judgement, but when she rolls into the ER dead, you know who to blame." They said they didnt think she was that sick in which case I said, yall are idiots and left for CMMC. When the family arrived at the hospital, they told the doctor about what had happened and he said he was glad they came there, because she would have died in route had we bypassed them. Way to go doc.

What is the dumbest call you ever went on? (Where you wanted to boink the caller on the nose and walk out for calling you for something so stupid.)

What is the best story of the biggest idiot who did something and really did need to have someone call for you?

I'm going to guess it involved a drunk person....

Do just normal people who have the flu call you? Or are these older or otherwise ill people who need the hospital because of the flu?

all sorts of people call for the flu. i had one guy call today for leg pain, but volunteered to walk out to the ambulance. I was like, why didnt you jsut get in your car and go. this is honestly how most of our calls are.
